We found Dr. Heimeyer after an unpleasant dental experience that resulted in dental phobia. My search for a kind understanding dentist with a good office staff started with a list of providers in my network: I read reviews and made in-person visits to look at the offices and interact with front office staff and ask questions.
Our first visit was for an exam; we were favorably impressed, but knew that actual dental work was the real test. Wow! I've never seen such patience in a dentist. While my child silently sobbed in fear, Dr. Heimeyer told stories and made jokes to help alleviate the anxiety. She waited for my child to be ready, and then worked swiftly and competently. My child, who had begged not to have to go back to a dentist ever again, and would collapse in anxiety over an impending dental visit, (including for routine cleanings) has said she's willing to keep going. Just for a bit of context, this is not a rebellious child (I have one of those-this is a normally compliant child who had a terrible experience with another dentist.) I can't say enough good things about Dr. Heimeyer. I'm switching the whole family to her practice.
